The winter break has started and our family activities took off together with it. The usual is there of course; painting, outdoor adventures, movies etc… But the focal point of all for us is, not surprisingly, the kitchen. That is where we spend most of our time. As my son is growing up, I am trying to give him an increasing responsibility and freedom in the kitchen.
Today, after out grocery shopping, he asked if he could make a holiday treat for himself. Apparently he had been eyeing the dried apricots and the dark chocolate we picked up. Those are the ingredients for his favorite chocolate covered goodness.
Actually I agree with him fully on this. The texture and the faint tartness of apricots go really well with dark chocolate. I don’t think I need to put this in the usual recipe format as it is super simple. Just melt some dark chocolate in a bain-marie and pour over dried apricots. I know it is tempting but try to wait until, at the very least, the chocolate is fully solid. Better yet, chill it in the refrigerator for a while first.
